The bank account is a great place to store the money we have earned and save, when we keep the money in the bank accounts we get some amount of interest on the money we keep in the bank accounts. Along with the interest, the money will be secure if we keep in it the bank. Thinking how? If you keep the money in the bank account then the first thing is no one can theft that money from the bank. There are no chances that you will lose the money somewhere because they will be in the bank.
That’s why I told that your money will be safe in the bank, many people no matter how much they earn. They prefer keeping their money in the bank accounts itself and not at their homes. We will get one more advantage of keeping money in the bank and that is while we travel somewhere then there is no need to carry much cash with us. I said much cash and not talking about completely cashless. 🙂  Because we can make use of our debit cards to make the payment if we buy something in a store, these days almost all the stores have swipe machine. (POS Machine)
We can make use of debit cards not only in India but even in other countries too. I am talking about the debit cards issued by Indian banks which can be used in other countries. But remember not all the debit cards issued by Indian banks can be used in other countries. There are some particular debit cards which we can use to withdraw money in other countries and pay bills at POS Machines.
I can give you an example for these cards one of the major banks of India is State Bank of India also issues international debit cards which can be used in other countries. If you want to know more about SBI International debit cards then you can do that by following this link.
You will b taken to another article which is written by me in which I have mentioned about all the State Bank of India international debit cards. Not only SBI but may other banks like Axis Bank, ICICI Bank etc. provide international debit cards to their account holders.
Some banks provide the international debit cards by default when you open the bank account and in some bank, you have to apply for such card. It all depends on the bank in which you hold the bank account.
However withdrawing money in other countries by using Indian debit cards will charge you more, because of the international service charges.
In this article of mine, we will be discussing how you can register mobile number with bank account if you have not registered it.
Almost all bank account users get their mobile number registered with the bank account while opening the account but in some cases, people fail to register their mobile number with the bank account they hold.
But in most of the cases, people want to change or update the mobile number which is already registered with their bank account.
I don’t know what you want to do, but I will mention the procedure to change and register mobile number in this article. If you want to share it with me then you can do that by commenting below.
At the starting part of this article, I have mentioned lots of stuff which is related to a debit card and usage of debit cards in our country and other countries. It has a reason why I have mentioned that stuff because you should always keep your mobile number up to date or else you will not get notification from the bank when any such transaction happens in your bank account.
Did not get it?
Don’t worry I will explain you everything in this article.
Why should you keep your mobile number up to date in Bank account records?
There are a number of reasons why you should register your mobile number with bank account right away if you have not registered it yet. I will be explaining some of them below here.
Debit Card Usage Alerts.
If someone who knows your ATM PIN steals your debit card from you and you are not aware of this. Then that person might misuse that card!
He can check your balance and withdraw all the money which is present in your bank account.
Or he can even load all the money in any of the electronic payment wallets.
If this happens to you then you will be in huge loss.
All you hard earned money will be gone, but if you register your mobile number with your bank account. And someone tries to use your debit card and enters wrong ATM PIN you will receive alert SMS from your bank.
Also if someone withdraws some money from your account using the debit card, I am talking about the unauthorized access you will get usage alert.
Soon after you get the debit card usage alert you can contact your bank and block you debit card.
And most of the bank will ask you to send SMS from your registered mobile number to a bank number which will automatically block your debit card.
But…….. how are you going to send SMS from your registered mobile number, because you have not registered your mobile number with the bank account or the registered mobile number is outdated.
This is the biggest reason why you should always keep your mobile number registered and up to date with the bank account.
Internet Banking Usage Alerts.
Internet banking is a widely used banking feature in India and other parts of the world, with internet banking, we can do most of the banking tasks like transferring money, making payment to the merchants, do balance enquiry, generate pension slip, get account statements.
But to make use of internet banking feature you have to receive an OTP (one-time password) from the bank. The banks send the OTP to the registered mobile number.
If you don’t have your number registered with your account then you can’t use this amazing banking feature provided by the bank.
Even if any transaction happens with internet banking then you will receive notification on your registered mobile number.
Mobile Banking and Other services.
If you don’t have your mobile number registered with your bank account then you can’t use mobile banking which is one more amazing feature just like the internet banking.
And other services like requesting cheque book etc.
So these are the reasons why you should register mobile number with a bank account, now we will move to the further part of this article and check out the procedure to get your mobile number registered or update it in the bank account records.
